Rain Bird 3500 Series Compact Residential Rotor – 1/2″ Gear

The Rain Bird 3500 Series is a compact, short-to-mid-range 1/2″ gear-drive rotor designed for high-value residential irrigation applications. Engineered for precision, this rotor provides a radius of throw ranging from 15 to 35 feet (4.6 to 10.7 meters), with an integrated radius reduction screw that allows for up to 35% adjustment without changing nozzles. A primary technical feature is the inclusion of an attachable nozzle tree containing six Rain Curtain nozzles. These nozzles are designed to produce large water droplets for superior wind resistance and uniform distribution across the entire radius, effectively eliminating dry spots near the head. The unit supports both reversing full-circle and part-circle operation, with arc adjustments from 40° to 360° achievable via a simple flat-blade screwdriver from the top.

Operational durability is maintained through a water-lubricated gear-drive design and a dual-action, positive-stop wiper seal that protects internal components from debris while ensuring consistent pop-up and retraction. Technical specifications include an operating pressure range of 25 to 55 psi (1.7 to 3.8 bar) and flow rates between 0.54 and 4.6 GPM. The 3500 Series features a 1/2″ NPT female bottom threaded inlet and a self-adjusting stator that maintains rotation speed when nozzles are swapped. Optional advanced features, such as the Seal-A-Matic (SAM) check valve, prevent low-head drainage for up to 7 feet of elevation change. This rotor remains a professional standard for those seeking an easy-to-configure, reliable, and water-efficient solution for smaller landscape zones.
